Colour Wheel Art Therapy

Kathryn Schmidt, MA, CCC

Child/Youth Therapist & Canadian Certified Counsellor

1.

Art & Play Therapy

Art and play therapy can help children to address their emotional needs. Art and play in a therapeutic setting encourages the child to learn more about their nervous system, thinking/ behaviour patterns and gain the ability to self-regulate with more frequency.

2.

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching can help you to gain insight into your approaches and reactions to your child.

Learn to shift your lens and gain skills to support your child where they're at.

3.

Parent-Child Therapy

Dyad work allows a parent and child to work on attachment needs.  Together the parent and child, under guidance of the  therapist will learn to co-regulate and express themselves more effectively.

4.

Consulting & Supervision

Support for other counsellors/ therapists looking for insight, guidance, and supervision around using art and play therapy for neurodivergent youth.

I use a client-centred, strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach to address therapeutic goals such as increased insight, emotional expression/ regulation,  executive functioning and better attunement and attachment between caregivers and their children.

I have received training in both Art Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy and my practice is rooted in social justice models, disability rights and informed by over 10 years of working in the disability community.
