Kathryn Schmidt, MA, CCC
Art Therapist & Canadian Certified Counsellor
1.
Art Therapy
Art therapy combines counselling with various art materials and directives in order to help each person achieve their therapeutic goals.
2.
Parent Coaching
Parent coaching can help you to gain insight into your approaches and reactions to your child.
Learn to shift your lens and gain skills to manage your child's emotions and behaviours.
3.
Parent-Child Therapy
Dyad work allows a parent and child to work on attachment needs. Together the parent and child, under guidance of the art therapist will learn to co-regulate and express themselves more effectively.
4.
Play Therapy
Play therapy can help children to address their emotional needs. Play in a therapeutic setting encourages the child to act out feelings and concerns and help resolve them. Play therapy can be used with any age group of child to support their mental health.
My Approach
I specialize in art and play based therapy for kids and teens with ASD, ADHD, ODD, anxiety, depression, and behavioural issues . I use a client-centred approach to address therapeutic goals such as increased insight, emotional expression/ regulation, better attachment between caregivers and children, management of symptoms such as stress, as well as increased executive functioning.

Art is not always about pretty things. It's about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected.
